Kazakhstan’s production of basic pharmaceutical products and medicines rose 30.9% in January–September 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Bureau of National Statistics figures reported by Pharmnews.kz (Kazfarmvestnik). Pharmaceuticals ranked among the manufacturing industries with the strongest growth rates.
Overall industrial output for the nine months grew 2.9% year on year, reaching 51.9 trillion tenge versus 44.8 trillion tenge in January–September 2025. Manufacturing expanded faster, by 8.6%. Besides pharmaceuticals, strong gains were recorded in fabricated metal products (34.8%), chemicals (23.4%) and machinery (22.8%). Output of rubber and plastics rose 18.1%, food products 13.8%, and other non-metallic mineral products 5.9%.
Positive industrial dynamics were noted in 16 regions. Areas with the most visible growth included Almaty, Zhambyl, Zhetisu, North Kazakhstan and Turkestan regions, as well as Astana, Almaty city and Shymkent.
For suppliers and distributors of medicines and medical products, the figures underline that domestic manufacturing capacity continues to expand alongside the wider industrial recovery — a backdrop that shapes local supply, procurement and partnership planning in Kazakhstan.
