In October 2026, Dauren Dikhanbayev, Director General of Kazakhstan's National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices (NDDA), made a working visit to China. A central topic was the conditions under which Chinese manufacturers can bring medicines and medical devices to Kazakhstan and the wider Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
During the trip he attended the opening ceremonies of the 93rd PHARMCHINA national pharmaceutical exhibition and the 94th China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF). The business programme included a session on bringing medical devices to the EAEU market, with regulators from Kazakhstan, Russia and China, researchers, industry associations and companies. Dikhanbayev presented Kazakhstan's experience in regulating market access for medical devices and plans to improve the system; participants discussed regulatory harmonisation, access to EAEU markets and industrial cooperation.
A separate closed meeting on entering the Kazakhstan market brought together about 25 large Chinese pharmaceutical and medical-device companies. The NDDA gave an overview of the local pharmaceutical market, and round tables explained state registration requirements and other conditions for placing products on the market. The delegation also visited pharmaceutical production sites in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
For iPharma, which works on bringing new medicines and medical devices to Kazakhstan, this is a welcome signal: the regulator is actively explaining registration rules to foreign producers, which helps new products reach the market faster and in full compliance.
