Kazakhstan's single distributor SK-Pharmacy has voided the results of 2027 public procurement for 58 product lines — one medicine and 57 medical devices — after a post-award check found that goods from five potential suppliers were missing from the Register of Kazakhstani manufacturers. The affected allocation totals 5.39 billion tenge.
According to SK-Pharmacy's reply to inbusiness.kz, the tenders follow Health Ministry order No. 110 of 7 June 2023 and are open to domestic and foreign manufacturers rather than wholesale distributors. Kazakh producers must hold a pharmaceutical manufacturing licence and a registration certificate naming them as the local manufacturer. Bidders submitted documents that met the formal rules, but during contract signing the distributor re-checked Eco Pharm KZ, Pharmaland, Vita Pharma, Almerek and the Masgut Aikimbayev National Scientific Center for Especially Dangerous Infections against the register. Products for the disputed lots were not listed, so those results were cancelled.
All 58 positions have been re-tendered. First deliveries are scheduled for December 2026, with shipments to medical organisations from January 2027; SK-Pharmacy says no supply gaps for hospitals or patients are expected and that it will tighten internal controls.
For market participants who supply medicines and medical devices in Kazakhstan, the episode underlines that registry status is checked not only at bid submission but also before contracts are signed — a point that matters for compliant market access.
